The Ristorante Caffetteria San Colombano was built inside the ancient homonymous rampart on the urban walls of Lucca, by restoring the existent structure of the tower and creating functional spaces without interfering with the pre-existing walls; the Ristorante Caffetteria San Colombano thus becomes a meeting place, an open air museum, a defence rampart, as well as a resting place and a shelter. It produces a special atmosphere, a mixture of sensations generated by the co-existence of new and old.
